Team News: Martin O’Neill is set to recall Laursen to play centre back with Barry coming into midfield to counteract the absence of McCann and the threat of Gerrard. Bouma could play at left back but O’Neill certainly feels that Barry, who is in top form, can breakdown the Liverpool attack.

Team News: Blackburn are without Savage, with the Welshman serving a one-match suspension and I expect this to impact the Blackburn team greatly. Mokoena will come in to replace him and has done well when called upon by Hughes this season but Savage is the midfield dynamo for Lancashire club. Nonda is also a major doubt with a shin injury and hasn’t trained since Wednesday. Pedersen (ankle) also hasn’t trained since Wednesday but Hughes expects him to start. Hughes does receive some good news with the return of Ooijer, after the Dutchman missed the Carling Cup clash with a rib injury. West Ham are woeful but this will be a tight affair at Upton Park.
